Home Remedies for Getting Rid of Acne Scars and Blemishes

by Grace Empson

There has been an increasing interest in finding natural methods to get rid of acne scars and marks. The good news is that there are some natural methods to help you eliminate these unsightly blemishes left behind by acne.

The bright side behind natural home remedies for acne blemishes is that you will not have to purchase expensive products and most of the ingredients are readily available in your kitchen. Home remedies, however, do have a downside, especially the time it takes to notice the effects and the variation of the results from person to person. But patience, in this case, is a virtue.

Natural Acne Solutions

Before trying any natural home remedy for acne scars and marks, make sure to wash your face with warm water. It is advisable to test the natural product on a small patch of skin to make sure that it does not produce an allergic reaction or irritation. Also remember that all of the following remedies can be diluted with water to produce a gentler mixture.

Garlic

Garlic is on of those wonder foods that seem to be good for all kinds of ailments. It has also been used in the treatment of acne scars and marks left by pimples. Since garlic can produce a stinging sensation, make sure to rinse it off immediately if it starts burning.

For this natural remedy, grate a clove of garlic and add two tablespoons of water to form a paste. Apply the paste directly to the area and massage carefully. The garlic will exfoliate the skin and remove a layer of scar tissue, so do not leave it on for more than five minutes.

Always apply aloe vera directly to the treated area after you have washed off the garlic paste. The aloe vera will hydrate your skin and provide protection without further irritation.

Lemons and Tomatoes

Both of these fruits have a high citric acid content which is excellent for cleaning and rejuvenating the skin. They have been used for years in natural skin treatments. Tomatoes in particular can inhibit the production of sebum due to its high content of Vitamin A.

If you choose lemon juice, simply squeeze one tablespoon of juice. Using a cotton ball, apply the lemon juice directly to the affected area. Remove the juice after ten minutes using a mild cleanser.

Tomato juice can be also be applied directly to the skin with a cotton ball. Rinse after 10 minutes.

It always pays to use fresh natural products instead of the canned versions. The canned versions can contain additives that might produce side effects and reduce the full effect of the natural components.

There are several other natural and inexpensive ways to treat acne scarring. Remember that the results from natural scar treatment can differ greatly from person to person. With consistency and patience, you will see how your mild acne scars and pimple marks fade with natural home remedies.
