3 Stone Rings: A Simple Guide

by Lorraine Jacobs

Aside from an engagement ring, wedding rings are the best symbols of undying love among couples. Because of this, selecting the right one can be extremely difficult as the failure to do so can affect the true value of such precious memento. Probably there is nothing more figurative than the 3 stone rings, which represents the three general phases of relationships: past, present, and future. Also referred to as trilogy or trinity rings, these finger hoops are widely popular among many couples today.

As their collective name connotes, 3 stone rings have three precious gems as their primary accents, without any additional gems on the sides of the metal. However, other complex settings can be orchestrated for the metals of these types of rings. The good thing about these rings is that they can be bought ready made or custom built. They are also widely available in most local jewelry stores as well as in online jewelry shops.

Commonly, these types of rings make use of diamonds, as these gems are also symbolic of timeless, indestructible love and commitment. However, as diamonds can be pretty expensive, other inexpensive gems have also been used to complement the needs of different couples. Some are made of brilliant cut white diamonds, while others prefer using colored gems.

When it comes to the shapes and sizes of the gems, most 3 stone rings uses gems that are similar in sizes and shapes. Since they will be set together, their symmetry and shapes should complement each other to achieve consistency. Most common shapes used are square, oval and round gems as they smoothly fit each other, while heart shaped cuts are not common since they do not fit well with each other. In terms of the gems' sizes though, although the three jewels usually have the same dimensions, some couples prefer the center stone much bigger than the two side jewels, probably because they want to give emphasis on the significance of the present.

There are different ways to properly synthesize the three jewels in your rings. If you want your wedding band custom made, it is preferable to use expensive metals like gold and platinum. If you're a bit tight on budget however, silver metals are also preferable alternatives. On the other hand, if you prefer purchasing ready to wear 3 stone band, try to make sure that you already know the setting of your band so that you will not be distracted with the many designs available in the market.

All in all, every couple has a past that served as the foundation of their present, which in turn serves as the phase where they envision their futures. With these perspectives at hand, a wedding band with 3 precious jewels can very well encapsulate these three important phases in your relationship. Definitely, every time you and your better half will look at this band, you would be able to look back on those special memories that have brought the two of you together. Likewise, you will always be reminded of how you have come a long way to finally make your dreams a reality.

Selecting the right wedding band is probably one of the hardest tasks that a couple can experience. It is important to secure rings that would solidify not only your relationship but also the experiences that both of you have shared together. 3 stone rings are probably the perfect mementos to commemorate the most important events in relationships. With brilliant cut diamonds or other precious gems, these rings will surely encompass the best days of your relationship.
