What Are Your Options Concerning Stretch Mark Removal

by Sara Kitch

Stretch marks are well known to everyone concerned with keeping their skin clear and smooth. They arrive as zebra like scars with different lengths and depths. They come to many different parts of the body such as the abdomen, breasts, buttocks, upper arms, and legs. The cause of these unwanted marks is mainly the result of rapid stretching of the skin resulting from rapid growth or weight gain usually caused by puberty, pregnancy, and weight gain. The middle layer of the skin is called the dermis, and when stretched to a point that its elasticity breaks down, out comes a stretch mark.

Okay, so how can they be removed?

Thankfully, there are options out there.

Today's Available Stretch Mark Treatment Options

If you are willing to spend lots of money to solve the problem, surgery is the route to take. The stomach is where stretch marks can be removed surgically in what's called abdominoplasy surgery, or the 'tummy tuck.' It improves the appearance of the stretch marks by tightening and contouring the stomach walls which removes excess fat and skin. The downside here is that it is expensive, painful, and has a long recovery time.

Laser treatment is an alternative surgical treatment. The objective of this treatment is to produce new collagen in the skin by shooting cosmetic lasers into the dermal layer. The collagen then thickens which leads to the plumping of the skin that fills in the stretch mark from below. The downside to laser treatment is that it is only mainly effective on immature stretch marks that are still red in color.

The realistic expectation of using these surgical treatments should be thought of as a 20 to 50% improvement in the appearance of the stretch marks.

Regarding the non-surgical route, an attractive option is microdermabrasion. There is no pain aftermath and the price tag is more down to Earth compared to surgery. It is performed in beauty spas but as well has an at home solution in the form of a microdermabrasion cream. The method is to wear down and eliminate the top layer of the skin by using abrading microcrystals. It triggers collagen and elastin production to create a newer and healthier skin to replace to the original stretch mark laced one.

One particularly effective at home microdermabrasion skin care cream is BIOSKINEXFOL. The dermabrasion cream produces the effect of the regeneration of skin cells which then resurfaces the skin. The natural serum in this particular cream is the product of a little creature's innate immune system that supports the protective strategies of the innate immune system of human skin. The little creature is the humble garden snail, and its serum mixed with all natural ingredients has unheralded benefits for stretch mark repair.
