How To Use A Microbrasion Product or Kit

The best place to use a personal microdermabrasion product is in the bathroom, because you need a clean space, a mirror, lots of light and running warm water. If you use a kit or set of products make sure you know what each product in the set does (don't get them all mixed up or mistake the cleanser for a moisturizer).

Never throw away instructions or original product wrappings -- keep them for reference in case you forget how to use it.

Some micro derma abrasion kits can be used at any time during the day, while others cause temporary redness and increased skin sensitivity, and should only be used at night, before bedtime. With other products, the micro crystals can be difficult to wash off over the sink, and a good time to use them would be just before the evening shower.

    Here's what to do:

Cleanse your face (neck, hands or whatever area you want abraded) with your own cleansing gel or with the one included in the set. I use the Eau Nettoyante Isotonique dermo-cosmetic water from Isoteliale, at the moment, but any thermal water, make-up remover or cleanser should work well. Rinse your face with warm water after thoroughly cleaning your face.

Most home microdermabrasion sets have micro-crystal creams as their main ingredient. Using them properly is essential to achieving good results and avoiding unwanted side-effects.
Use the micro-crystal cream (with your fingers, sponge or applicator, if the set has one) on dry or damp skin, depending on instructions (most micro dermabrasion creams are designed to work on damp skin).

Gently massage the cream, but don't linger in one place for too long, or you may irritate the skin (micro crystals have irregular surfaces and abrade the skin even if you can't feel it).
Wash the cream off thoroughly -- use the shower if there are crystals which refuse to come off.

    Pat dry

Use the nourishing cream included in the microderm abrasion set. If there isn't one, just use your own moisturizer (either night or day cream). Some people ask if they should use special creams after home micro dermabrasion. We recommend that as long as you keep your skin well moisturized (with any product that suits you), there's no reason why your skin shouldn't make a full recovery.

    Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I Have Micro Derma Brasion If I Am In My 20s?
A: OTC micodermabrasion system is safe for all ages and all skin types but most doctors recommend it for patients aged 14 and older, mainly because they want to make sure that all major hormonal changes are over and the results of the procedure are as good as they can be.

Q: Microdermal Abrasion Is It Recommended For Stretch Marks?
A: Stretch marks appear on your skin as uneven skin tone and texture. By exfoliating the outermost layer of the skin, microbrasion machine evens out skin tone and texture, thus reducing or totally removing stretchmarks.

Q: Does Micro Dermal Abrasion Irritate Your Skin?
A: There are cases when microderm can irritate your skin. This procedure is contraindicated for pregnant or nursing women, people with active herpes lesions or malignant skin tumors, keratosis, active rosacea. If medical advice is not followed, skin irritation may occur.

Q: Does Face Microabrasion Work Around The Eyelids.?
A: Yes, but you have to be very careful how close to the eyes you get, the skin here is extremely sensitive. Please read the instructions on the product carefully, they should state how close to the eyes you are allowed to apply the microdermation cream.

Q: Can Microdermal Abrasion Work For Getting Smoother-Looking Skin?

A: By exfoliating the top layer of the skin, micro dermabration product cleans deep into the pore and removes excess oil and dirt that clog pores - which causes whiteheads. Most whiteheads are removed while the more stubborn ones become less noticeable.

Q: Micro Dermabration Is It Dangerous If You Have Rosacea?
